ハローキティ

Tuesday morning was just one of those mornings.  With Isaac out of the office, I had to somehow fake my way through the role of a Client Support Analyst!  Bad enough I had to get up early and be at work way earlier than normal:(

The minute I walked in things started to go wrong:  "Dr. Kimmes, my password won't let me into axiUm", "Dr. Kimmes, my dual monitor isn't working", "Dr. Kimmes, someone locked me out of this computer", "Nici, can you look at my laptop, it won't boot up".....just to name a few.  Now normally I welcome having to be the hero every now and again when Isaac is tied up (not literally) and I am the only one available to save the day.  In reality, one superhero instance is actually enough to hold me over for weeks or months at a time.

On this particular day, one thing right after another that early in the morning was just enough to counteract any of the positive effects the double shots of espresso were having on my motivation to push through the first few hours of the morning until Isaac returned (run on sentence meant to animate the way I felt at the time).

Isaac returned, the place didn't fall apart on my watch and I think I shouted "I love you" when he appeared in the doorway....I am not sure if I imagined the Superman cape or if he really had one on.  Either way, my duty was done.

While attempting to keep the place somewhat functional, I had gotten an email that I had a package waiting for me in the Admin area.  Thinking to myself it is a computer or something we had ordered, I didn't beeline it to the elevator like I did the previous week when I knew my iPad2 with pink case had arrived.

Eventually I made my way to the 3rd floor since my superhero powers were no longer needed.  And there waiting for me was a package from one of my sweetest and dearest friends, "V".  When "V" sends packages there is always something super exciting in them.  Something that immediately lifts your spirits.  A beautiful card is always enclosed with just the right words to make you feel like nobody else in the world matters except you.  It was almost as if "V" had inside information that Tuesday was going to be one of those mornings that I desperately needed one of these "pick me up" presents.  Before I could even get back to my office I had used my teeth and the little bit of fingernails I have to get that box open.  Jetting through the waiting room with pink tissue paper trailing behind me, I reached inside and found......

Bonjour chat, Hola gato, Hallo kitty......HELLO KITTY!!!  Now anyone that knows me, knows I love Hello Kitty.  First for the obvious reason....PINK!!  Second, because like my mother and my grandmother, I have a love for kitty cats (kutzamulas as we call them).  Put the two together and you have Hello Kitty!!!  Now I have never had the chance to go into an actual Hello Kitty store and that is probably a good thing since I am a compulsive shopper.  So when I get Hello Kitty presents, I become ecstatic like a little girl all over again.  First I just had to pause and admire the box.  The box in and of itself is a great present.  I could not even guess what I was going to find inside and I was too excited to even take the time to guess so I just quickly removed the lid and found an absolutely adorable compact.  Like a kid, I saved the card for last!!!!  Mostly because I always love to read and absorb the encouraging words of "V" which is always followed by pondering and reflecting upon the fun times I have when I get to see "V".  Which puts a smile on my face, a truly genuine happy smile.

I cannot even express in words how extremely blessed I feel each and every day to have such great friends in my life.  I personally feel that friends are one of the most valuable prizes there is in this thing called life.

And so to my friends reading this, I say thank you.  I feel like I am the luckiest person just to be fortunate enough to have each and every one of you in my life.  Sometimes life gets the best of me and I don't call, text, write, or email as often as I should, but I am always thinking of you with a smile.
